Bella

When Bella was 5.5 yrs old she started limping. We assumed she had a sprain but took her to the vet as it didn’t resolve after a few weeks. X-rays unfortunately showed osteosarcoma of her right dorsal wrist. This cancer has a very poor prognosis and life expectancy is only about 4 months from diagnosis even with amputation. It usually metastasises to the lungs. (You may want to confirm with KK but I’m sure that’s what were told). I did a lot of crying as Bella is one of those special dogs that you have the privilege of sharing your life with. She was also too young to die. I then decided we were going to fight this. Initially, I consulted the Naturopath at Greenpet, and changed Bella’s diet and tried homeopathic drops etc. I decided it wasn’t enough and discovered Gary at Maple St Vet who at that time was doing laser acupuncture and treating with Chinese herbs. We have Gary to thank for telling us that the 1st line of action had to be amputation. After the amputation from the shoulder (at Cooroora Vet) we continued with Gary’s treatment until he started changing his treatment regime and we no longer felt comfortable with his methods of diagnosing and treating. At that time Kaori started working with him and we told him how we felt and he suggested Kaori treat Bella. For almost 4 years we have strictly continued with Kaori’s treatment plan consisting of a mostly raw diet, regular acupuncture and daily Chinese herbs.

TCVM gave us hope when the prognosis was so poor. Not only is Bella still alive almost 4 years from diagnosis but she also has quality of life. She is a happy boxer – just with 3 legs instead of 4. I know we have done everything possible for Bella. I no longer feel guilt.

I love that there are a few qualified vets, like Kaori, practicing TCVM – a ‘natural therapy’ that is based on science. It helps that Kaori is also genuine and altruistic.
