Tom with Multiple Issues

So Tom’s mum comes to tell us this:

“Tom has NO main issue but a combination of:

  • Itching along the sides of the body, sides of the face, and down his front legs (no chewing or licking of feet),

  • Head shaking indicating potential ear issues,

  • Hot head,

  • Regular hiccups since he was a puppy,

  • Vomits weekly after eating grass,

  • Occasionally refuses food (red meat - lamb or beef he will often not finish),

  • Surprising reluctance to chew bones (for a big dog, he won't eat anything bigger than a turkey neck),

  • Lacking stamina (for a dog his age, I would have thought he would have more energy; I'm happy that he is pretty chilled but when working - nose work, tracking - he tires quickly),

  • He can be deeply suspicious of new things,

  • Reactive to other dogs when on lead,

  • Very sensitive to human body pressure,

  • Will remember adverse things (a door slamming) for ages and will be wary for a very, very long time afterward,

  • Fly chasing (not obsessive but will persist unless redirected; I try and minimize flies)

  • Difficult to re-direct once he has noticed/found something

First, great observations, this information really helps in TCVM as they are all signs of the pattern of disease!!! It may be very strange to people who do not know Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, but Dr. KK’s diagnosis for Tom is:

“Liver Qi stagnation leading heat hence disharmony of Spleen and Liver”

Seeing (Hearing) is believing…

Here he was refusing/scared of having an acupuncture treatment for the first consultation but for his SECOND time, he came to Dr. KK to say hello and let her rub his body.

  • Tom’s owner also made comments as follows:

  • He is drinking less water and is now consuming what I would consider to be a 'normal' amount for a dog his size with the amount of exercise he does.

  • He seems calmer and more focused and I can more easily get his attention and redirect him when needed.

  • His stamina is improving and he can work for longer with greater intensity (nose work and tracking).

  • He is not overreacted to a new thing or stops being too reactive

  • He is eating much better

We are on the right track! We have now started to peel one onion layer before he gets a serious health issue(s) and soon remove a second layer to get his health to max level.

We love seeing our fluffy getting benefits from TCVM, especially as a preventative medicine.

Thank you, Dr. Jenny Day and Ruby’s mum for letting Tom’s mum know about us.
